Roma v Inter: Five games in, the title race already has a shape

It was billed as the first heavyweight clash of the Serie A season, and it lived up to it. Roma and Inter arrived at the Stadio Olimpico on 19 September with four wins from four each. They left level on 13 points after a thrilling 2-2 draw, still sharing top spot heading into the international break.
Only one other side can match them. Gennaro Gattuso's Lazio are also on 13 points, with Cagliari one point back and AC Milan on 11. But it is Roma and Inter who look like the two most complete teams in the country, and Saturday's game showed exactly why.
Two halves, two stories
For 45 minutes, this was Gian Piero Gasperini's Roma at their most ferocious. Their pressing stopped Inter from building out from the back, and it took only six minutes for Manu Koné to exploit a string of defensive mistakes and finish from close range. On 37 minutes, Koné struck again. His second was initially ruled out for offside before a VAR review awarded it. Roma went in at the break 2-0 up and in total control.
