Inter keep finding a way: The stoppage-time habit that’s put them back on top
26.10.26, 16:41 5 Minute Read
For most of Sunday’s game at San Siro, Inter were losing to a team in the Serie A relegation zone. Fiorentina, who arrived with four points from seven games, had led since the 65th minute. Inter had hit the crossbar twice, seen a strong penalty appeal waved away and watched David de Gea deny them again and again.
Then, in stoppage time, everything changed. Marcus Thuram equalised in the first minute of added time. Six minutes later, Piotr Zieliński scored from the penalty spot. Inter won 2-1, moved to 22 points and stayed top of Serie A, level with Lazio but ahead on goal difference.
It was dramatic, but it was not new. This is now a pattern, and it says a lot about Inter’s title credentials, both good and bad.
